Callino Quartet in Carnegie Hall The quartet are very excited to have been selected to work closely with the Kronos Quartet on 20th Century string quartet repertoire in a series of workshops which will culminate in a performance at Carnegie Hall on the 21st March. Callino Quartet Banff residency The quartet are looking forward to a short term residency in March at the Banff Centre for the Arts in Canada. Callino Quartet feature in new CD for Louth Sounds label. The quartet perform compositions by Arvo Part, John Taverner, Alexander Knaifel and Valentin Silvestrov on the latest CD to be released by Louth Sounds, "A place between". For further information or to purchase the CD please visit Callino Quartet to work with Alexander Knaifel The quartet are very excited to have the opportunity to work with Russian composer Alexander Knaifel on some of his important compositions for string quartet. They will be collaborating with Oleg Malov and Patricia Rosario and performing in St. Peter's church in Drogheda on Friday 1st May. Callino Quartet receive Second Prize in Tromp String Quartet Competition in The Netherlands The quartet recently participated in Tromp International String Quartet Competition and are delighted to have received Second Prize. As a result of this they will be resident quartet at the Orlando Festival in Holland in August 2009. Callino Quartet feature in soundtrack for Irish film "KIngs" The quartet are very excited to have been working recently with Pol Brennan, respected Irish composer and former member of Clannad on his score for a new Irish film by Tom Collins, "Kings". This film is due for release this summer. Music Network Touring Award The quartet are delighted to have received an award from Music Network Ireland to fund their tour of County Cork in the Autumn. from Haydn's Seven Last Words. Exciting Times Ahead! The Callino Quartet are currently busy preparing for the second
'Callino and Friends' festival at Bantry House to be held over the
Easter weekend. A collaboration with superb violinist Catherine
Leonard will be a first for the quartet and they look forward to
performing the Chausson Concert for string quartet, violin and piano
with her and pianist Finghin Collins with whom they have performed
many times. Carol McGonnell will make a return to this year's
festival and together with the quartet will perform Brahms' late
Clarinet Quintet. The festival will begin, as it did last year, with
Haydn's Seven Last Words performed on Good Friday. For a full list of
