The Callino Quartet
Education workshops

The Callino Quartet has been very active in the field of education ever since their formation in 1999. They see it as an integral part of their own development and work as a string quartet to bring music to a wider audience and in particular to inspire a love for music in young people. They have a long standing association with County Cork and have been involved in an education residency based there for the last six years. Due to the resounding success of these workshops they are now working closely with West Cork Music and the Arts office for Cork County Council to try and develop this into a more long term programme. They just held a two week residency during the month of September presenting workshops and concerts in both primary and secondary schools throughout County Cork. This was met with great enthusiasm by the students and teachers and they look forward to returning there once again next year. Last month they also visited Newry and gave a workshop and masterclasses to some of the more advanced string players in the area.
